Week Two: Night Owls
Hey Everyone!
This is just a quick post as there's a queue for the computer!
This week has been harder than last. We had 18 girls rather than 8, and the weather has been rubbish. Our girls had signed up to stay up late and do night time activities, but we only managed a movie night, a late night campfire and a night treasure hike, and not the star gazing or nocturnal animal hunt cos the weather was wet and cold. This worried me slightly cos one of the parents was really anal about us doing "everything that was promised in the pamphlet". Freak.
To make matters worse, all of the girls were more mouthy than last week, and they took forever to get ready. We had to moan and scrike at them countless times and by Tuesday I'd totally burnt out, run out of steam and had enough. I just burst into tears when my leader, Dude, gave me a hug. It wasn't for any particular reason, just because I was totally worn out. The main problem was one girl who was causing loads of trouble - forgetting her stuff, making other girls cry, fabricating maladies.... and she would have to be the one who was left when the parents came for pick up on Friday!
In fairness, the week was not without it's highlights. I had a lot of fun working with Dude and Luna again, and loved that we had Schnitz to work with too. The treasure hike was good - me and Luna went around camp posting little rhyming clues then got the kiddies to follow them! That was fun cos the kids really enjoyed it and appreciated that we'd made the effort to do something fun for them.
Anyway, camp is closed for the weekend so we all have the weekend off, and Schnitz has very kindly let 10 of us stay at her house just 45 mins away. Last night we ordered in chinese food and drank fruit rum slushes. It was great! I think today we're gonna chill out, maybe go to the mall, and then tonight we're going out into Providence and going clubbing! I'm so excited! I really need a night out.
That's all for now. I'll try and post again soon!
